‘Power developer pressurizing project affected employees to resign’
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: The Project Affected People's Forum (PAPF) of Etalin has alleged that the JPL (EHEPCL) is pressurizing many local project affected persons working with it to tender resignation without any valid reasons.
According to PAPF, three employees, namely Soko Tayu, Ononge Miyu and Mindo Mena have been asked to put their resignation letter by September 30 by the management of JPL (EHEPCL).
Further, PAPF informed that the management of the power developer is reportedly pressurizing three more employees, namely Giamde Dignium, Tako Leya and Arun Milli to submit their resignation letter without any valid reasons.
The action of the company has left these employees in a state of shock and helplessness, it said.
PAPF has informed that EHEPCL was planning to terminate the services of persons belonging to the project affected areas of Etalin Hydro Electric Power Project.
The Forum also demanded EHEPCL to ensure and protect the services of all the residents of Dibang Valley District, who have been working with EHEPCL.
Terming the decision of EHEPCL as harsh, unjust and unreasonable as the employees have been doing their best to fulfill their job responsibilities, PAPF in a letter to the President cum CEO of JPL EHEPCL, Gurgaon, Haryana appealed to reconsider the continuity of services of those employees working with it since 2010.
It served 15 days ultimatum to EHEPCL to revoke its decision against those employees, failing which PAPF threatened to resort to democratic movement which may affect peace and tranquility in project areas.
Dept. supplies male Kiwi saplings
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Non-fruit bearing male Kiwi saplings were supplied to a farmer from Anjaw district by the Horticulture Department.
The farmer, who started his kiwi orchard in 2007-08 under Technology Mission, DHO Anjaw, had procured 175 kiwi saplings comprising of 150 female and 25 male plants of "Monty" and "Brunu" varieties.
But unfortunately, the (female) Kiwi saplings planted in his orchard in 2008 and 2012 have been identified as non-fruit bearing male plants after seven years, the poor farmer from Chugung village rued.
The male saplings are planted for pollination purpose at a ratio of 9:1, the victim said in a release.
"After seven long year, I came to know that the saplings were non-fruit bearing ones."
"My seven years of labour has proved futile due to the negligence of the department," the farmer said, and demanded compensation from the department for the loss he has incurred.
According to the complainant, the department refutes supplying such Kiwi saplings.
There is no record of procuring/purchasing kiwi saplings by the farmer in the information obtained through RTI from RAN Dirang, the release said.
The farmer also informed that a complaint has been lodged with the Director of Horticulture on September 28 to take further necessary action against the erring officials and to compensate the loss the farmer had incurred.
State agriculture dept signs MoU with Oil Palm developer
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: A MoU has been signed between state Agriculture department and Ruchi Soya Industries, an Andhra Pradesh-based oil Palm developer on Thursday last, to cover an area of 5000 ha initially in the foot hill areas of the districts like, West Siang, Lower Subansiri, Papumpare and East Kameng.
The state's oil palm potential areas have been divided into 4 zones and implementation of the production programme under central sector scheme on National Mission on Oilseeds and Oil Palm (NMOOP, Mini Mission-II) was started from 2013-14 in other zones and the MoU signed on Thursday is in respect of Zone-IV comprising above 4 districts. Most encouraging aspect of this programme is assured buy back system by the developers for processing. Planting material is grown and managed mechanically in the locality of plantation by the developers.
The initiative is step towards gainful utilization of the vast land resource of the state for economic development through farming operation.
Secretary, Talem Tapok along with Director, (Agri-Marketing), Advisor, State Oil Palm Officer, Assistant State Oil Palm Officer of Agriculture department and Corporate Head of Ruchi Soya Industries (Oil Palm division), P Mallesham accompanied by the DGM (Plantation) and Manager (Plantation) of Pasighat were present in the MoU signing function.
DGBR concludes Arunachal visit
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: The Director General Border Road Organization (DGBR) Lt Gen. Suresh Sharma on Friday concluded his five-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh. In a release BRO informed that DGBR reviewed progress of work in all important strategic roads in Tawang sector and in Subansari Valley. His visit to the Subansiri valley started on Wednesday last. Due to inclement weather conditions on all three days, the aerial movements of the General Officer were adversely affected.
He travelled by road from Naharlagun to Ziro, and onwards upto Daporijo. Yesterday from Daporijo the DGBR took off on a chopper to visit Limeking. On arrival at Limeking he inspected the critical Bailey bridge being launched by BRO at Gelensiniak across the mighty Subansiri River. It is pertinent to mention that this bridge is the first one being launched on the mighty Subansiri River. After inspection of the bridge construction, the DG went upto TCC where he was briefed about the critical roads from the vantage point which presented a clear view of both Subasiri as well as Tsari Chu valleys. He halted at Limeking and next day went back to Daporijo by road to get firsthand experience of said stretch of road.
DGBR informed all concerned that Ministry of Defence is considering higher budget and special powers for construction of these strategic roads. BRO is working under extremely difficult constraints including terrain and weather, he added.
Mossang calls for holistic implementation of all schemes
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Kamlung Mossang has called for holistic implementation of all the schemes and projects so that it could reach the grassroots people. He also asked the WRD officials to give best of the best services to the farmers to ensure food and water security in the country. He said this while addressing review meeting of the department for the year 2016-17 at WRD Conference Hall on Friday.
Mossang further directed the engineers to work together to make the future of the state prosperous. "The state's development is only there when people are prosperous. We have to help the downtrodden and farmers to make the state prosperous", the minister told.
Parliamentary Secretary for WRD Gum Tayeng also asked the WRD engineers to put their best efforts and make practical DPR to reach the farmers.
"80 percent population in the state depends upon agriculture. We need to provide best irrigation and water supply to the farmers", she said.
The parliamentary secretary further called for proper monitoring and practical uses of schemes while implementing it.
She also urged them to find out ways and means to mitigate the changing climate and make proper survey on dying water sources.
WRD Secretary Geyum Padu called upon the engineers to make optimum use of the platform to share their best practices, ways and means for the coming days, adding water sector is a vast area where it needs to develop the department first.
He directed them to prepare integrated and holistic DPR to make all the project success.
Padu opined for creating division in all the headquarters of the state so that the concern executive engineers could monitor all the projects smoothly.
Chief Engineer (Western Zone) Likar Angu stressed upon development of Jal Gram in all the pockets to ensure water security.
Angu also appealed all the SEs and EEs to practically implement all the projects so that the people can get optimum benefits from the department.
He also called for review of PMKSY programme to ensure water conservation in the state.
Chief Engineer (Eastern Zone) M Ngomdir and SE (HQ) Getom Borang also spoke.
All health facilities much reach to the poorest of the poor: DC
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Tai Kaye urged health officials that all the health facilities reached to the poorest of the poor and all the health activities implemented effectively.
Addressing the 2nd quarter review-cum- coordination meeting of district health society at Yupia on Friday, the DC emphasized on better coverage of family planning activities as well as rational distribution of manpower.
Appreciating the well maintained chain of command and charter of duties followed in the department, Kaye said that there should be good coordination between health department and general administration.
He also appreciated the and acknowledged the hard work of all the doctors and other staff of the Health Department in improving the health scenario in the district.
DMO Dr. T. Kampu also emphasized on rationalization of manpower in the district. She urged all the Medical Officers in charge to give more emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene in their respective health facilities. She also said that efforts were on to make all defunct Primary Health Centres of the district functional.
She also said to solve the problem of medicine in the health facilities.
Earlier, DRCHO Dr. J Ado highlighted on various activities of NHM under Papum Pare district through PowerPoint. He also raised the issue requirement MO i/c in PHCs of Toru and Parang and rationalization of human resource. The DRCHO sought support for proper implementation of ASHA activities.
District Surveillance Officer Dr. R R Ronya also highlighted the various activities and achievements under National Programme for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease and Stroke (NPCDCS), National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
Dr. Tana Aruna Likha, District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme Officer (DVBDCPO) presented a PowerPoint highlighting various activities and achievements under National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme. She also highlighted the difficulties and challenges like lack of storage room, lack of good quality microscopes, irrational distribution of manpower, etc
All the Medical Officers in charge while giving feedback highlighted the difficulty faced regarding shortage of infrastructure (institutional & residential) and lack of adequate manpower especially in the CHC Sagalee, PHC teporiang, Toru, Parang and Sub Centre Topiaso.
The meeting was attended by District ASHA Nodal Officer, Medical Officers in charge from all the Health facilities and all other staff of Health & Family Welfare Departments.
Petitioners reject ABK claim, says will withdraw case
ITANAGAR, Sept 30: Tapu Mibang and Tadam Talom have rejected the claim that their PIL filed in High Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) against highway development and forest authorities, for deliberately violating mandatory and essential environment guidelines while implementing the project, has delayed the work progress of Pasighat-Pangin road of Trans- Arunachal Highway.
Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) in its central executive body meeting on September 24 had condemned the duo saying that their filing of PIL had triggered the delay in the construction work of the TAH portion.
'Work on Pasighat-Pangin road has been halted due to the order of Range Forest Officer for non-clearance of Stage-II FC approval (final approval) and it has got nothing to do with the case we filed,' both said in a press release also providing a copy of the order passed by the RFO, Pangin forest range on September 18 last.
NGT never comes up with any order which can hinder development nor did we appeal the court to put such hindrance on the work either, the duo claimed.
DC seeks cooperation from all to make East Kameng clean and hygienic
SEPPA, Sep 30: East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Takuk sought cooperation from all to make the district clean and hygienic.
Addressing a meeting on Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) at Seppa on Friday organized by PHE & WSD Seppa division in collaboration with East Kameng Social Welfare & Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO), the DC said that anything is possible if one works with dedication. He appealed to all to work in hand in hand with the district administration in keeping the district clean and hygienic.
The workshop was conducted with the sole objective to make people aware about the importance of construction of IHHL and role of PRIs for Open Defecation Free (ODF) Gram Panchayats.
Cautioning against any malpractices, ZPC M Cheda requested all HoDs and executing agencies, particularly the engineering departments not to support and sanction any fallacious bills. Works should be monitored and verified by the concerned agency before sanctioning the bill, she added. She further requested the PHE&WS department to educate and guide the people towards open defecation free society.
EKSWCO Chairman Safar Pao urged everyone to take active participation in the ongoing Swachh Bharat week and pledge to eradicate the open defecation from the society once forever.
BDO Seppa R Dada requested the panchayat representatives and implementing agency for judicious selection of schemes. Gyawepurang Anchal Chairperson Niri Lamgu informed that the present amount provided for construction of IHHL is insufficient and requested the department concerned to enhance the amount for better implementation.
EE (PHE&WSD) B Sonam informed about the current status of IHHL in the district. He further briefed about the aims and objectives of the Swachchta Week which includes eradication of open defecation, conversion of insanitary toilets into flush water toilets, to bring behavioral change among people regarding healthy sanitation practices, to generate awareness about health and hygiene, and others. AE (PHE&WSD) T Sono highlighted about the roles and functions of PRIs and NGOs for ODF GPs. Er. T Bagang explained about the correlation between water, sanitation and health, and steps and ways for maintaining their balance. Former ZPM B Sangyu, ZPM K C Bengde and Secretary (S/Service) EKSWCO B Dada also spoke in the programme.

Pre-Rabi Kisan Sammelan organized
PASIGHAT, Sep 30: A 'Pre-Rabi Kisan Sammelan' was jointly organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, (KVK) East Siang and College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF), Central Agricultural University, Pasighat at Namsing village, Mebo block, for promotion of location-specific, eco-friendly technologies for upcoming Rabi crop season here on Thursday.
In all, 200 progressive farmers from Namsing village of Mebo block attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Mebo block, ZPM, Kayem Tayeng emphasized on use of improved varieties of field as well as horticultural crops to secure food and nutritional security of farm families. She also advised the progressive farmers to take up poultry and piggery in large scale.
East Siang DAO, YJ Lego advised the farming community of Namsing village to use improved Toria varieties TS-36 and TS-38. She also apprised the farmers about Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and other schemes.
Dean CHF, CAU, Pasighat, Dr. AK Pandey emphasized on use of improved as well as hybrid seeds of vegetables and other field crops. While urging the KVK scientists and faculties of CHF to promote location specific, farmer-friendly improved technologies, he suggested organizing such programmes on regular basis in other blocks of district also. He later distributed improved variety seeds of Toria, Niger, Buckwheat, Brinjal and Tomato to the farmers.

ASKA felicitates medal winners, first AKF judge from Arunachal
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: The four karate players of Arunachal Pradesh, who represented India at 3rd South Asian Karate Championship in New Delhi and contributed four medals to country's total medal count, have been felicitated by Arunachal Shito Ryu Karate-Do Association (ASKA) in a function organized at CS Ponglu Indoor Hall, IG Park here on Thursday.
AKA general secretary Sensei Bulang Marik, who became the first Asian Karate Federation (AKF) Kumite Judge-B from Arunachal Pradesh, was also felicitated on the occasion.
He achieved the feat during the 3rd South Asian Karate Championship in New Delhi from September 22-26. More than 1000 candidates appeared in the AKF Judges examination and only few of them have qualified, including Marik.
The karate players from the state bagged 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals in the Championship.
Sinne Mikhu won one gold, while Jackap Flago Taniang and Bumi Nuk bagged a silver medal each. Yame Gyadi bagged the bronze medal.
Parliamentary Secretary Dikto Yekar, who attended function, offered warm congratulations to the team for their success.
Yekar, who himself was a Karate player and won gold medal for the state, said the outstanding performance reflects the talents and hard work of the players and their support team. He hoped their success would motivate other players towards karate.
AKA Treasurer Tai Hipik delivered few pieces of advice to the players and asked them to practice hard and regularly to maintain consistency in their performance.

Arunachal has tremendous scopes in adventure sports: CM
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Arunachal Pradesh has tremendous scopes and potential in aero, aqua and land adventure sports to make it one of the leading adventure tourism destinations of the world, asserted Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
While calling for creation of skilled manpower to promote this untapped sector, Pema said, "The more specialized human resource we develop, better are opportunities to attract adventure enthusiasts from all over the world."
He requested Principal of National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (NIMAS),Dirang Col. Gulshan Chadha to train manpower with specialization in adventure sports.
Col Gulshan had called on the Chief Minister at his offices here this morning to submit the annual administrative report of the institute.
In a PowerPoint presentation, he briefed the CM about the activities undertaken during the institute's three years since its inception in 2013.
Col Chadha informed that NIMAS has till date trained more than 1500 trainees in various disciplines of adventure sports.
"We have been able to provide high end training to youths in river rafting. Our trained youths can face any challenge in the toughest river course in the world when it comes to rafting," he informed.
He further added that similar high end trainings have been given in para-gliding, mountain climbing and other adventure sports disciplines.
Col. Chadha made a special request to the CM for promoting Skiing in the state. The location nearby Sela Pass in Tawang is ideal for the sports, he informed and requested to introduce Zip-line sports which has gained immense popularity in the recent past and attracts tourists.
Giving a patient hearing, Khandu assured that he would take up the matter with concerned authorities and work out modalities to promote these sports in Arunachal.
He assured that the state government is committed to provide every possible platform to attract tourists of different hues so that people of the state are gainfully employed and economic activities gets a fillip.
Pema requested the NIMAS's Principal to chalk out a retreat programme for team building for decision makers.
"This is an important exercise where many fresh ideas emerge and team spirit develops. This is essential to achieve overall aims and objectives of any organisation," he pointed.
The meeting was also attended by Sports and Youth Affairs Secretary Dani Sallu.
Badminton coaching camp
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) is conducting an intensive coaching camp for 15 selected players at Raj Bhawan Badminton Stadium from October 1 to 22.
The camp will be conducted and supervised by coaches Dilip Gurung, KB Gurung and Gita Karki.
However, few players have been exempted from attending the camp for unavoidable circumstances and in view of the upcoming All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament scheduled to begin at Chandigarh on October 5.
Two NSCN (IM) cadres arrested
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Two NSCN (IM) cadres were arrested in a joint operation by police and army at Miao on Thursday.
Police operation led by SDPO Miao John Pada, OC PS Miao N Ete, SIs Rawat, T Tayeng, OC PS Kharsang, SI J Aran, police personnel from Miao and Kharsang PS and 13 Assam Rifles apprehended two hard core insurgents -SS Pvt Lungseng Jugli NSCN (IM) cadre, S/o Late Lungnan Jugli and Khumvi Mossang, S/o Late Toikam Mossang. Both are from New Plone village.
An amount of Rs 5915, suspected brown sugar weighing 7gms, three mobile phone, five sim cards and extortion note book were recovered from the duo, police informed.
It is pertinent to mention that the area has been in news of late due to rampant extortion and threats to businessmen, Govt servants and villagers by various insurgent groups. A case U/S 384/506/34 IPC r/w 10/13 UAP Act and 21 (b) NDPS has been registered against the accused.
Operation is on to arrest other members of the outfit, police further added.
Swachh Bharat programme at Mikong

RUKSIN, Sept 30: In connection to Swachh Bharat Week observed under Swachh Bharat Mission-G in East Siang district, Pasighat division of Public Health Engineering and Water Supply (PHED), Pasighat division is conducting a series of programme in the district.
The department conducted an awareness camp at Mikong village under Bilat circle on Thursday, wherein the officials made the rural people aware on the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiated by Central government.
Addressing the local villagers in a meeting, Assistant Engineer of PHED, Kaling Taki asked the villagers to use sanitary latrine/toilet and maintain hygienic condition to get rid of various infectious diseases.
They suggested the villagers not to leave stray their domesticated beasts, said the stray beasts contaminate surrounding and thereby spread many disease germs.
Taki informed that his department gives fund amounting to Rs 7 lakh to each gram panchayat for implementing schemes related to health and hygiene.
The programme was launched in the district on September 25 last and will be concluded on October 2.
Marathon for school kids organized
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: As part of School Sports Week at Tso Yargay Public School, Mechukha, run by Onge Welfare Society, a "Mini Marathon" with a message "Clean Mechukha Green Mechukha" was organized on Driday.
Altogether 40 students from Tso Yargay Public School participated in the marathon and covered a distance of about 4 Km.
Nima Tsering Gyana of Standard VIII, Jigme Naksang of Standard VIII and Tashi Chukla of Standard VIII bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively.
Earlier, the marathon was flagged off by Jigme Onge BEO, Mechukha.
Economic and Statistics dept says goodbye to Kamtu Mamai
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: A farewell function was organized in the Directorate of Economic and Statistics here to say goodbye to Kamtu Mamai, Director, who retired on superannuation from Govt. service after serving the state for a 38 years.
Secretary (Economic and Statistics), TT Gamdik while wishing Mamai a happy and healthy retired life, urged all the officers and officials of the department to work hard for betterment and glory of the department.

Road link disrupted
YINGKIONG, Sep 30: Road communication between Yingkiong and Likor-Palling PWD remained snapped for more than 10 days due to landslide at different location trigged by heavy rainfall over the last one week.
PWD, Yingkiong division has pressed men and machinery into service to clear the road for communication.

AKDDSU visits fire victim
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: A team of All Kra Daadi District Students Union (AKDDSU) on Friday visited the victims of fire accident in Jullang near IRBn colony, Itanagar and provided some relief materials to them.
The fire on September 28 destroyed the houses of Tagru Tayum of Dote under Tali circle, Kra Daadi, who was presently residing at Jullang.
AKDDSU appealed to the Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner to provide relief fund to the victim family.
Huge quantities of expired soft drinks seized
ZIRO, Sep 30: A huge quantity of expired soft drinks from Yachuli market were seized and destroyed in a raid conducted by Yachuli administration.
Circle Officer (CO) Likha Radh, who conducted raid under the supervision of ADC AC Boruah, said that the defaulting shopkeepers will be booked under appropriate sections of law.
It's a killer business and cannot be compromised, the CO said and strongly condemned the act of the shopkeepers for playing with the life of people.
It is worth mentioning here that Ziro-II and Raga blocks of Lower Subansiri district are one of the highest consumers of soft drinks in the state. Sale of such expired soft drinks is a matter of grave concern which needs immediate corrective measures. DIPRO
Progress of govt. sponsored schemes discussed
TAWANG, Sep 30: Review of credit flow and progress of various government sponsored schemes viz. PMEGP, KCC, MUDRA etc were discussed during a District Consultative Committee (DCC) meeting held under the chairmanship of Tawang DC, Sang Phuntsok here on Friday.
During the meeting which was attended by HoDs and representatives of various banks, the DC was apprised that the target set under PMEGP for 2015-16 could not be met as many beneficiaries recommended by District Level Task Force Committee were rejected by banks on various grounds.
While seeking cooperation of the bank authorities, the DC advised them to simplify the documentation process so as to rule out delays.
Further, he asked the authorities to create awareness by setting up financial literacy camps and exhibition stalls during important events. Recovery of government sponsored loan was also discussed at length. The DC also reiterated on the importance of selection of genuine candidates with viable projects for proper implementation of schemes and pressed for counseling of the candidates. On being apprised about the low credit deposit ratio of few banks, it was decided that a special committee would be formed to look into the same. (DIPRO)
Grooming cum women empowerment workshop
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Three days grooming, confidence and personality development workshop for the contestants of Mrs. Arunachal 'Mother of Substance' was organised at Don Bosco Youth centre by Ngurang Learning Institute.
The central idea of the workshop was to groom and bring out the hidden and lost confidence of the mothers. The contestants were involved in activities like training on public speaking, debate, extempore, yoga classes and screening of film and documentary on women empowerment.
The second day of the programme witnessed a surprise visit from the Anshu Jamsenpa whose inspirational speech boosted the spirit of the ladies that it's never too late for a mother to fulfil her dreams. ‘Age and family is not the ultimatum’.
Three days programme saw overwhelming and positive response from the contestants.

Rural Teacher receives BGR Award of Excellence
ITANAGAR, Sept 30: Reena Subba, a teacher with Apna Vidya Bhavan Wakro was awarded with Beena Ghose Roy Award of Excellence on Thursday with a citation and a cash prize of Rs 10000 in recognition of her contribution to the cause of improving education in rural Arunachal.
Chief Medical Officer, Wakro Health Centre Dr Diwakar Sonowal gave away the award instituted by the Anu Shiksha Seva Trust.
Lauding Reena for her for her service and dedication, Academic Head of the Apna Vidya Bhavan Sujata Panth, said her involvement with students and other members of the teaching fraternity in endeavoring to improve education in rural areas will immensely benefit the society.
Vijay Limbu, another teacher from the school received Letter of Appreciation.
Anina Haldar gave away the Niti Bhalla Trophy for best all rounder to Basenlu Tayang, daughter of Mangonglu Minin and Banepso Tayang of Pukhuri village.
To mark the occasion, ASSET provided solar study lamps for twenty students of Naraliang in Anjaw district. Ten students of Khrawliang across the Lohit River in Hayuliang area will also receive similar assistance, ASSET said.
A free health screening of rural students was also conducted by ASSET recently. Children suffering from various ailments were provided free medicines.
Training for tea farmers
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: The tea growers of the state were given training on scientific tea cultivation in a training programme conducted by the Department of Agriculture, Yupia at Roni Tea Estate, Karsingsa on Friday.
Junior Advisory Officer from research station Jorhat Biswajyoti Bordoloi, who attended the training as resource person, explained about the technical know how and the entire package of practices of tea to the farmers, most of whom were first timer.
He particularly stressed on the importance of mulching to prevent loss of soil moisture, especially during dry season.
Agriculture Development Officer Hage Amphi told the farmers about the adverse effects of using chemicals in the soil and advised them to avoid the use of chemicals in their fields to maximum extent so as to maintain the fertility of the soil.
She further told the farmers about the benefits of vermicompost and how one can easily set up a vermicompost pit in their houses for kitchen garden purposes.
20 farmers from Kimin, Balijan, Sangdupota, Doimukh, Karsingsa and Banderdewa circle participated.
Cleanliness campaigns held as part of Swachh Pakhwada
MIAO/JAIRAMPUR, Sep 30: The department of Tourism, Changlang as part of Swachh Pakhwada programme, conducted cleanliness drives at major tourist sites of the district to create awareness on the need for maintaining cleanliness.
On World Tourism Day on Sep 27 last, the department organized a cleanliness drive at Ratnagiri Vihar Buddhist monastery wherein students of Government Higher Secondary School, Miao took part. On the occasion, Miao, Tourist Information Officer, Khoda Yakang spoke about the significance of celebrating World Tourism Day. A quiz competition was also held to create awareness about tourism and later prizes distributed to the students.
A cleanliness drive was also conducted at the famous World War II Cemetery at Jairampur on Thursday last in collaboration with the forest department, Jairampur division.
Similarly, at Yingkiong a cleanliness campaign was conducted under Swachch Pakwadas programme under the supervision of Yingkiong TIO, Jemar Jram Dubi at VKV School on Sep 24 last.
About 400 students took part in the campaign. While addressing the students on the occasion, the TIO advised them to carry forward the cleanliness campaign to their respective surroundings. A dustbin was also donated to them. A cleanliness drive was also conducted at Tourist lodge complex on Sep 25 last. (DIPRO)
Meeting held for inclusion of land under Siang district
AALO, Sep 30: A meeting was convened at the Conference Hall of DFO here on Friday to sort out complaint lodged by the inhabitants of Kabu, Pobdi, Paya, Bene and Kambu falling under West Siang district against inclusion of their Jhum land, forest areas and WRC fields in the Siang Forest Division after creation of Siang district.
Addressing the complainants, DFO, Nyali Ete clarified that the Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF), Central Arunachal Circle, Pasighat, Vide No. Memo NO.CAS/396/E/2016/P-1/3762-65 Dated 14/07/2016 had recommended to include the forest area for the proposed Siang Forest Division, co-terminus with the Administrative Jurisdictional Map of the Siang district and denied that Aalo Forest Division had anything to do with it.
Former President GWS Horsen Ete, ZPM Pubu-Yombu, Tumpe Ete, representatives from Panchayat, Gaon burahs and NGOs belonging to the concern villages and a representative from Pangkeng Village, Tangir Goi, Asstt. Secretary Gida- Isi Committee decided to maintain status quo and to resolve the matter through govt. intervention.
The representatives further suggested that the boundary demarcation should be done on the spot through Geo-coordinates using GPS. (DIPRO)
Painting & drawing competition
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: A district level painting and drawing competition was held on Friday in the conference hall of deputy commissioner, Yupia. The theme of competition was "Disaster Risk Reduction." Altogether 15 students from various school participated in the competition.
Deputy Commissioner Tai Kaye distributed the prizes and certificates to winners of the competition. Tarh Kampung and Taba Macha of Govt Girl's Residential School, Yupia bagged the first prize and second prize while third prize was won Langda Bhai from Upper Primary School Yupia. The consolation prizes were given to Sudeep Barman and Kalpana Mondal from Govt Hr. Secondary School, RGU. Provide streetlights, solar lighting systems
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Claiming that the people of Lada under Bameng hqtrs have been facing acute shortage of electricity supply, the All Bameng, Khenewa and Lada Students' Union (ABKLSU) has in a memorandum to the East Kameng, DC on Thursday appealed to him to provide streetlights and home solar lighting systems at the earliest.
It further appealed to the DC to provide immediate relief to one Yapuk Pangia of Pangi village under Khenewa Circle whose house was completely gutted in a fire which broke out around 8 pm on Sep 23 last.
WHL conducts awareness camp
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: A day-long awareness camp was organized by the Women Helpline (WHL) at the Hills College of Teacher Education and Arunachal Law Academy, Lekhi here on Friday.
It aimed at creating awareness among the students about the WHL, which provides support and assistance to women affected by violence in both private and public space through referral services and provides information about government related schemes for women.
During the camp, the WHL team informed the students about ways to access the WHL Helpline response and provided information on the One Stop Centre (OSC) and the toll free number (181).
Swachh Bharat rally
ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Tadar Mangku, EE, PHE & WS, Itanagar Division flagged off a rally promoting celebration of Swachh Bharat week at Jote here on Friday.
He informed the general public and other participants of the programme about the importance of sustainable sanitation for a healthy society.
He urged the public of upper Balijan to adopt and practice the sustainable sanitation in villages, schools and anganwadi centres by constructing sanitary latrines to make them open defecation free. Participating in the programme, ZPM Gollo Takam, ASM Nabam Tangum and ASM Tacha Ranka and senior teacher O Yirang also highlighted the importance of total sanitation and maintaining hygiene.
Prize distribution for the winners of Essay and drawing competition which was held as part of the programme was also followed up. Among others, AE Tamchi Syam , JE Chow Maoseng and host of other employees of Itanagar Division were also present in the meeting.

Banks should beef up the security system
The bank robbers are back to action in Itanagar after a brief lull. Yesterday two robbers attempted heist at Apex Bank, Chimpu and managed to get away with Rs 1 lac. Alert jawan of SSB stationed near the highway nabbed one robber while another manage to flee. In the last 5 year Arunachal has been repeatedly hit by bank robbery incidents. Especially in capital complex several incidents of robbery has taken place. For whatever reasons, the police have miserably failed to stop such kind of incidents from occurring.
It is seen that most of the robbers are repeated offenders. After getting bail, they again indulge in robbery and do not seem to fear the law. This is really worrying trending. Police should ensure that these criminals get maximum punishment, so that they don’t dare to repeat such heinous crime. Also proper investigation should be done and make sure that everyone involved is strongly punished. The banks also need to improve their security system. This includes both internal and external security. They should coordinate with police and district administration to develop robust security system to deter the robbers. Also it is their responsibilities to ensure that public money is in safe hands.

Agony of current affairs
Dear Editor,
This is in reference to the recently held General studies paper AE (Civil) conducted
by APPSCE. The irony of GS is that it's syllabus can never be well known or covered
fully so you are never in a position of secured and moreover its more toiling when
you are oblivious by question pattern that is set by a commission which hardly conduct
an exam . The current affairs portion on General studies paper was out of one's comprehension.
I failed to understand any relevance of asking date's from any exam point of view.
It would have been better and much competitive had they gone for substances of policies
and programme's and In addition to that Indian polity which is highly regarded even
by UPSC was auspicious by its absence. To be more critical, such was the standard
that even a Civil services aspirant will go to state of "Perplexing". The commission
might try to put its rational argument by saying that the level of the state must
be kept in the mind while setting a paper but in reality by setting such standard
they are lowering the level of preparation and our ability to compete in other competitive
exams , such trends will never nurtured our soul's . The only remedy of thriving
unemployment is to make us more competent for central service's which could only
done by brining immediate reforms in question pattern and making it more akin to
other central services exams. Why would one go through all the hardship of substances
when commission is only interested about Dates? Let's take it for example what is
more important aim and objectives of "Swatch Bharat Abhiyan" or day or date when
it was implemented. My heart goes for the students who had toil day and night to
score good numbers as it is one of the most scoring subjects. Well, though we have
